Let’s take a look back into the message Russian president, Putin has sent to Africans across the world on their special day as he aims to broaden Russia’s relationship with the continent.
On May 25, Africans celebrated the Africa Day, which marks the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in 1963 and now known as the African Union (AU).
There were numerous well wishes from many across the world and one who caught the attention of many came from Putin.
According to him, Africans established themselves as respected members of the International community with huge success social developments.
“Over the past decades, independent African states have firmly established themselves as respected members of the international community, achieving notable progress in both economic and social development. Multilateral cooperation at the African Union and various subregional organisations helps enhance peace, security, and stability across the continent.
Russia has consistently advocated for deepening its traditionally friendly ties with African partners. This commitment was clearly demonstrated at the Russia–Africa summits held in 2019 and 2023, which opened new avenues for cooperation and fostered greater alignment on key international issues.
The Ministerial Conference of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum is a new dialogue platform that yields positive results as well. The next meeting of this format is scheduled to take place in one of the African countries later this year.” He said

Putin also Stated emphatically that he is confident the relationship existing between Russia and Africans will continue to grow with time
