When Ghana’s Black Stars play Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers on Thursday, September 4, they will be back in action.
The Black Stars are looking for another victory as the qualification campaign has already seen six rounds of games.
The match on matchday seven is a rematch of their last meeting with Chad, in which Otto Addo’s team won 5-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana is seeking to defeat its opponents on Thursday in order to hold onto their three-point lead at the top of Group I.
With five victories and one loss thus far in the competition, Ghana has 15 points out of a potential 18.
Since they haven’t gained any points yet, the Black Stars know they are up against a team that is simply fighting for pride in the remaining games against Chad.
Les Sao has already been eliminated from the qualifiers due to a poor run of performances.
The Black Stars won the first match between the two teams, so this will be their second meeting overall.
Ghana has won four straight games after their lone loss of the season against Comoros on the second day of play.
Nations, Raoul Savoy will try to ruin the celebration.
Franky Tchaouna and Eric Mbangossoum will be trusted in the midfield, and Savoy will be hoping that Ebenezer Ngardial and Yves Allarabaye, the experienced players, can restrict the Black Stars’ attacking possibilities.
Derrick Arthur Kohn, a left-back, was the only new player added to Ghana’s roster by Otto Addo.
The defender, who was formerly on Germany’s books, is only making his maiden appearance in the lineup after agreeing to change his nationality to Ghana.
In addition, Addo has reinstated Kamaldeen Sulemana, Ibrahim Osman, Elisha Owusu, Abdul Salis Samed, and Tariq Lamptey in his squad after they were absent from the previous several games.
Both Joseph Paintsil and Alexander Djiku were called up, but they were unable to join the team in time for the match against Chad.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID
The Black Stars had their final training session on Wednesday following their arrival in Chad on Tuesday night. The team inspected the pitch to be used for the fixture before their final session.
However, the park’s condition prior to the game disappoints the head coach.
“The fact that CAF permitted this (astro turf) field for an international game surprises me. It’s a really bad pitch.
It’s really challenging.
It’s like playing on concrete for the players,” he remarked.
Despite his worries, he will be hoping that his team can put up a strong show and win all three points at the Mandjafa stadium, which has 30,000 seats.
Kickoff for the match is set for 13:00 GMT.
