Today marks the 25th anniversary of Real Madrid Basketball team’s 28th league title. On 5 June 2000, Sergio Scariolo’s charges were crowned champions after defeating Barcelona 73-82 in the fifth and decisive game of the final series.
The Whites overcame Barcelona’s home-court advantage, getting the better of the Catalan’s on the day thanks to some impressive displays by Scott (PIR of 27), Alberto Angulo (19 points), Lucio Angulo (12) and a Djordjevic who stepped up at the key moments (10).

In the Regular Season, the madridistas finished second in the league with a record of 23 wins and 11 defeats.
The road to the playoffs saw Madrid take on Gran Canaria in the quarter-finals, before a local derby against Estudiantes went the distance in the semis. Alberto Angulo was crowned MVP of the final in the series against Barcelona.
