The “very hard” pitch of Chad’s Olympic stadium is criticised by Otto Addo.

The Confederation of African Football has come under fire from Ghanaian coach Otto Addo for allowing international games to be played at the Stade Olympique Marechal Idriss Déby Itno.

At 1 PM local time on Thursday, Chad and Ghana will play their Group I Match Day 6 World Cup Qualifier at the recently built stadium.

Otto Addo, the coach of the Black Stars, stated during the pregame press conference that the playing surface was inadequate.

The fact that CAF permitted this (astro turf) field for an international game surprises me. It’s a really bad pitch.

It’s really challenging. It feels like playing on concrete to the players.

Addo made the remarks following the Black Stars’ required on-field practice at the 30,000-seat stadium in Mandjafa, which is situated on the eastern suburbs of the capital, N’Djamena.

Ghana has won five of six games and now leads Group I with 15 points.
