Pastor unalived after community members accused him of witchcraft

NIGERIA – An ECWA pastor has been brutally unalived by a mob after being accused of witchcraft in Kasuwan Magani, Kaduna State.

The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Theological Seminary, Kagoro, confirmed that the victim, Pastor Dio Idon, a former student of the seminary, was attacked and unalived on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

According to the seminary, the violence erupted after the death of the pastor’s brother, who reportedly passed on after a period of illness.

Following the incident, members of the community allegedly accused Pastor Idon of witchcraft, attacked him, unalived him, and set his body on fire.

The seminary said the late pastor was serving as the pastor of ECWA Ungwa Shaawa LC, Kasuwan Magani DCC, at the time of his death.

In a statement, the institution described the killing as a tragic and barbaric act and called for prayers for the family of the deceased.

“Today, we received with sadness the news that our student, Pastor Dio Idon, was massacred by a mob following witchcraft accusations,” the statement read. It added: “Let us pray for his family for God’s comfort. Let us pray for the spiritual transformation of these barbaric perpetrators of evil.”
