We can’t even challenge Trump, How dare you?” – Falana reacts to Trump’s threat
A viral video claiming that US troops have landed in Nigeria caused panic across social media on November 6. The footage, shared by X user Spaghetti Mafia (@italian_Spencer), alleged that the US Army had arrived in Bonny Island, Rivers State.
The post caption read:
“Breaking News: US Army lands in Bonny Island, Rivers State!! Donald Trump wasn’t playing around.”
The clip quickly racked up thousands of views and comments, with Nigerians expressing fear and confusion over the alleged military presence.
However, the Nigerian Presidency swiftly dismissed the claims, describing the video as false and misleading. D.O. Olusegun, Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, commented directly under the viral post:
“This is false.”
The video’s timing coincided with US President Donald Trump’s controversial remarks, in which he accused Nigeria of failing to protect Christian communities. Trump threatened to halt all US aid to Nigeria and declared the country a “Country of Particular Concern”, hinting at possible military action against Islamic terrorists.
Trump’s statements sparked international backlash. China publicly opposed any foreign military action and reaffirmed its support for Nigeria’s sovereignty, further intensifying the global discussion.
As the video circulated widely, the Presidency’s quick response helped calm public fears, reminding citizens and social media users to verify news before spreading panic online.
