The finance minister of Ghana, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has disclosed that plans are far advanced towards the cancellation of E-Levy, betting among other numerous taxes.

The finance minister made the disclosure when he was speaking before parliament dated March 11, Tuesday.
According to him, “We have programmed the following taxes for removal in line with our manifesto promises. Mr speaker, we will abolish the 10% tax on winning from the lottery”.
Adding that “The government will also eliminate the 10% withholding tax on betting, the emission levy, and the VAT on motor vehicle insurance policies.”
Talking about the relevance of the removal of these taxes, the minister of finance said “The removal of these taxes will ease the burden on households and improve their disposable income. It will support business growth and improve tax compliance”.
