The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a major financial and logistical package for all 18 Ghana Premier League (GPL) clubs ahead of the 2025/26 season, as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s top-flight competition.
Speaking at the 31st Ordinary Congress in Pampram on Tuesday, GFA President Kurt Okraku said each GPL club will receive a minimum of GHS 1 million before the season begins – the highest pre-season financial support in the league’s history. The funding is aimed at boosting club operations, improving player welfare, and enhancing competitiveness on and off the pitch.
The package is part of the GFA’s strategy to professionalise the league and develop sustainable revenue streams. It is backed by a commercialisation plan, developed with Adesa Productions Limited, to expand sponsorship opportunities, improve marketing, and increase matchday and broadcast revenues.
In addition to the cash support, the GFA has distributed 540 pairs of football boots and 540 footballs – 30 each per club – to help maintain training and matchday standards.
Okraku said the goal is to position the GPL as a competitive, sustainable, and globally marketable league.
