Daddy Lumba’s funeral unlikely to hold on December 6 -

The planned funeral service for Daddy Lumba scheduled for December 13, 2025, has been cast into serious doubt following a court appearance by his elder sister, Ernestina Fosuh (also known as Akosua Brempomaah), in Kumasi today.

The funeral which has been postponed from an earlier December 6 date, is currently embroiled in a public and legal feud that has gripped the musician’s family since his demise on July 26, 2025.

The late singer’s elder sister and his first wife, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, had previously filed an interlocutory injunction against his alleged second wife, Odo Broni, the family head (Abusuapanin), and Transitions Funeral Home, seeking to halt the planned service.

Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, the first wife, has publicly accused the family head of sidelining her from the funeral committee’s meetings and claimed she only learned of the announced funeral date through social media, fueling the legal challenge.

Following her court appearance, Ernestina Fosuh was adamant that she would not permit the funeral to proceed on the two-week notice of December 13, 2025.

In an emotionally charged statement, she questioned the rushed nature of the arrangements by stating that;

“Excuse me for saying that Charles (Daddy Lumba) is not a chicken. Only two weeks for his funeral? No. The funeral will not happen.”

Ms. Fosuh questioned why certain family members, including the Abusuapanin, were eager to rush the burial.

She stressed that while she doesn’t hold the ultimate decision-making power, she would postpone the funeral to 2026 if given the authority.

“I cannot put power in my hands, but if God gives me more life, the date will change. Why two weeks? Why are we rushing? That is the big question,” she stated.

She also noted that she had recently met with the traditional leader of their hometown in Accra and asserted that she did not need to consult her Abusuapanin to postpone the funeral date.
