Calvin Bassey named Fulham Player of the Season for 2024/25

Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has been voted Fulham’s Player of the Season for the 2024/25 campaign, edging out compatriot Alex Iwobi to claim the honour.

Bassey secured 39.6% of the final fan vote, ahead of Iwobi, Britain’s most expensive Nigerian signing, who garnered 21.5%.

The top five was rounded out by Antonee Robinson (19.9%), Bernd Leno (10.9%) and Saša Lukić (8.1%).

The 24-year-old made 37 appearances across all competitions, logging 3,284 minutes and scoring two crucial goals.

He notably scored the winner against Nottingham Forest in February and the opener in an FA Cup tie against Manchester United in March.

Reacting to the award, Bassey credited his success to faith and teamwork:

“Thank you guys for voting me Player of the Season. I want to thank God – without God I wouldn’t be where I am.

“Thanks to the coaching staff and the Manager for trusting me and believing in me. Hopefully we can do amazing things next season.”

Bassey joined Fulham from Ajax in the summer of 2023 on a four-year deal running until June 2027.

He had previously finished second in voting during his debut campaign at Craven Cottage.
