Bayern Munich are set to challenge Chelsea for the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, according to reports from Kicker.
The Bundesliga giants have entered advanced discussions with the 20-year-old Englishman as they look to reinforce their attack ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Chelsea had earlier seen an offer rejected by Dortmund but remained in pursuit of the former Manchester City academy product.

However, Bayern’s entry into the fray threatens to derail the Blues’ efforts, especially with sporting director Max Eberl leaving the Club World Cup early to prioritise key transfer dealings.
Gittens, who is currently with Dortmund at the Club World Cup in the U.S., featured as a substitute in their opening match against Fluminense but did not play in the high-scoring 4-3 win over Mamelodi Sundowns.
His potential departure has drawn attention from top European clubs due to his pace and creativity on the flanks.
Bayern’s interest comes amid uncertainty in their own attack, with Leroy Sane expected to leave and pursuits of Nico Williams and Rafael Leao yet to materialise.

Chelsea, meanwhile, view Gittens as a potential replacement for Jadon Sancho, who is set to leave the club permanently.
If Bayern succeed in hijacking the move, Chelsea are expected to go to other targets, including Lyon’s Malick Fofana and Brighton’s Joao Pedro, although no significant progress has been made on either front.
