Man reportedly deported after returning a lost wallet to police
An Abroad-based Nigerian man has been reportedly deported from Europe after returning a lost wallet to the police, an act of honesty that unexpectedly exposed his immigration status.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by AsakyGRN, the man recounted how he found a lost wallet and decided to do the right thing by taking it to the police station.
However, when officers asked for his ID, he was unable to provide one.
It was later discovered that he was living in the country as an illegal immigrant, leading to his eventual deportation.

“So yesterday, a Nigerian was deported back to Nigeria because he picked up a wallet last week on the floor that contained an ID card and roughly €4,500 in it.
Based on good Samaritan instincts, the guy took the wallet to the police station and reported that he found it on the floor and didn’t know who owned it.
The police appreciated him and decided to put him on record. They then asked him for his documents. He didn’t have anything, he was illegal in the country. Immediately, the story changed.
They arrested him and deported him. Maybe he was thinking that because he was a good Samaritan, they would give him documents…”
The story has since triggered emotional reactions online as one commentator wrote, “This world no balance. Person do good, na punishment follow.”
Another said, “Law is law. The police did their job.” Others expressed sympathy, with one user saying, “He chose honesty over survival. That’s painful.”
The incident has once again highlighted the harsh realities of undocumented life abroad, where even good intentions can come with serious consequences.
