GH man arrested for trying to sell his 3-year-old son
A Ghanaian man has been arrested by the Akwatia Police Command for allegedly attempting to sell his three-year-old son for GH¢1 million, in a case that has shocked residents of the Eastern Region.
The suspect, identified as Coffie Agyemang, a resident of Kwamang, was picked up by police following intelligence gathered about a plan to traffic his own child.
According to sources, Agyemang had allegedly discussed the plan with an associate, citing severe financial hardship as the reason behind the disturbing decision.

Police were subsequently alerted and launched an undercover operation. Officers reportedly posed as prospective buyers and engaged the suspect in discussions, during which an agreement was allegedly reached to sell the child for GH¢1 million.
The suspect was arrested when he arrived at the agreed location with the three-year-old boy to complete the transaction. The child was immediately rescued and placed under protective care.
The arrest has sparked outrage and disbelief within the community, with many residents expressing concern over the welfare of children and the growing cases of human trafficking linked to economic hardship.

Police say investigations are ongoing, as authorities probe further disturbing allegations surrounding the case, including the possible involvement of other individuals.
Coffie Agyemang is expected to be arraigned before court to face charges once investigations are concluded.
The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to protecting children and urged the public to report any suspicious activities to help curb child trafficking and related crimes.
