Jerome Bettis Has Nothing But Praise for Rodgers
NFL legend Jerome Bettis is full of admiration for Aaron Rodgers, who’s proving that age really is just a number. The Pittsburgh Steelers are sitting comfortably at the top of the AFC North, and Rodgers — at 41 years old — is leading the charge with 17 touchdown passes.
While many doubted if Rodgers could still perform at the highest level after last season’s struggles with the Jets, Bettis says he never questioned the player — only the body.
“He Never Forgot How to Play”
Speaking to TMZ Sports at LAX, the Super Bowl XL champ said Rodgers’ football intelligence and skill were never in doubt.
“When you’ve been a great player in the league, you don’t forget how to play,” Bettis said. “I don’t think that was ever a question. I think the question was, ‘Can he physically do it?’”
And clearly, Rodgers has answered that question with authority.
Can the Steelers Go All the Way?
With Rodgers firing on all cylinders, fans are already dreaming about another Super Bowl run. But Bettis, ever the realist, isn’t getting carried away.
He believes the Steelers’ title odds are still about the same as other top contenders. “They look great,” he said, “but the season’s long — anything can happen.”
Bettis Knows Greatness When He Sees It
If anyone’s opinion carries weight in Pittsburgh, it’s The Bus himself. Jerome Bettis is one of the most dominant power runners in NFL history, holding several Steelers records, including six consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.
When Jerome Bettis speaks about football, people listen — and if he says Rodgers still got it, you better believe him.
