“Welcome US troops“ – US-based Nigerian tells Nigerian government, says anyone against US action is enemy of Nigeria
A Nigerian man living in the United States (US) has gone viral after he publicly expressed his support for US President Donald Trump’s “possibility of military intervention” in Nigeria.
The post came after President Trump claimed that a record number of Christians were being killed in Nigeria and suggested that the US might step in to address the country’s ongoing security challenges.
Princewill Odidi Shares His Views
Princewill Odidi, a Nigerian living in America, took to his Facebook page to explain why he supports the proposed intervention.
According to Odidi, the Nigerian government should welcome the help of the US military to tackle insecurity.
“While many Nigerians are of the opinion that Boko Haram killings cut across religious lines, we never wanted additional economic sanctions on Nigeria as we felt it will hurt the common man,” Odidi wrote.
Backing Military Action Against Insecurity
Odidi added, “Yesterday Trump suggested the possibility of US military intervention. I support that 100 percent. I also think the Nigerian government should be jubilating and welcome US military intervention in Nigeria to wipe out Boko Haram, herdsmen killings, and even gunmen killings in the East.”
He also said that anyone opposing the potential intervention is, in his view, acting against the interests of Nigeria.
The post quickly gained traction online, sparking mixed reactions among Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.
