Well-known Ghanaian socialite and entrepreneur Isaac Kofi Oduro Boateng, commonly referred to as Kofi Boat, has allegedly been apprehended during a prominent collaborative operation executed by Interpol and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The apprehensionoccurred on Friday, June 13, 2025, relatedtoapurported $100 million fraud operation involving Business Email Compromise (BEC) and romance scams.
Sources knowledgeableabout the operation reportthat Kofi Boat, believed to be the suspected leader, was captured with two accomplices.
A fourth suspect allegedlyfled during the synchronizedoperation and is nowevadinglawenforcement.

The three suspects appeared before a Magistrate Court on Monday, June 16, 2025, and arecurrentlyheld in police custody while investigations proceed.
Officialssuspect the group,reportedlymonitoredby the FBI since 2024, engineered a complex cyber fraud schemeaimedatbusinesses and individuals invarious countries.
Prosecutors claim the suspects pretended to be company leaders and utilizedfake emails to misleadunaware victims into approvingsignificant wire transfers.
OnJune13,2024, a requestforprovisionalarrestwasmadebythe U.S. Embassy to Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
OnMarch18,2025, the arrestwarrantwassignedbythe Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, Minister of Interior.
Kofi Boat and his accomplice face charges of conspiring to engage in wire fraud and money laundering. Legal specialists state that if extradited and found guilty in the United States, the defendants may endure years in prison.
